Presentation to the FJC
Jun 23, 2020
On Friday, June 19, Managing Partner Tom Waldrep joined fellow bankruptcy attorneys Susheel Kirpalani of NYC, Craig Goldblatt of Washington D.C., and Randy Michelson of San Francisco to present to the Federal Judiciary Center.
Over fifty federal bankruptcy judges virtually attended the FJC-sponsored discussion "COVID-19 Crisis and the BK Courts--Counsels' Perspective" where the panel spoke candidly about how is the court system is working for attorneys post-COVID. The panel explored how virtual hearings affect advocacy, due process, and effectiveness of the court, and possible opportunities for improvement as we all persevere in a COVID-19 laden world.
Celebrating Juneteenth at Waldrep LLP
Jun 19, 2020
Today, many of our Waldrep LLP employees and partners are participating in the Juneteenth Running Challenge organized by the Twin City Track Club. Donations received from this event will go to the Winston Salem Urban League.
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery 155 years ago in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Today, Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement.
This year, Juneteenth is an especially meaningful day, reminding us of the continued struggle in the African American community for equal opportunity and treatment. At Waldrep LLP, we seek to celebrate freedom and inclusiveness by joining our community to achieve a common goal.
